Directional drilling has been in existence for almost a century. The technique developed when the oil and gas industry made it possible for more than one well to be dug out of the same bore. Over the years, advances in technology have made the drilling technique the go-to process when one needs to handle serious drilling tasks. The process is highly specialised, and there are particular rules and regulations to follow for success. Here, are some of the tips to follow for successful guided drilling hire.

1. Rotating the drill pipe

If you want your directional drilling to be successful, you need to look at the manner that you rotate your drill pipe. The pipe is the most vulnerable item in the drilling process because it wears out easily. While the pipe may not be as expensive as the other parts of the bore, it is still important to keep it in perfect condition and ensure that it does not compromise the quality of your directional boring process. It is recommended that when using the pipe, you try and rotate it throughout each drilling string. This will ensure that all parts of the pipe get worn out uniformly.

2. How to use the drilling fluid

If you want to regulate the amount of wear which affects the drilling pipe, you have to make sure that you use drilling fluid every step of the process. Most people make the mistake of thinking that smaller drilling projects do not need as much fluid as the large ones because there is less friction involved. However, if you want your pipes to stay in excellent condition, and the drilling process to always go as planned, always add fluid onto the pipe before starting the project. It is estimated that projects which are carried out using fluid last an average of 20% more than those that do not.

3. Understand the state of the ground

The third tip which will help you have an easy time drilling is to always ensure that you have checked the state of the ground before starting the drilling process. If the ground is rocky, use the drill bit which is designed specifically for the rocky ground.

Last, if you are doing your drilling on clay soils which are sticky, think about using fluid on the drill bit of the pipe. This will prevent the sticky mud from adhering to the drill bit. Ensure your staff is properly trained to handle all these processes for the success of the project and the durability of your machinery.
